Worming Time

Important Worming advice from Westgate labs and our in store ESQP.
The first frost has arrived !! So it’s now time to worm for Encysted Redworm.
Remember. Even if you have had clear Worm Counts, they do not detect Encysted Redworm.
So you MUST worm for it between November and January (this is a very important worm to target, click here for more).
The wormers to use are moxidectin based, e.g. Equest or Equest Pramox. (Pramox also targets Tapeworm so if you haven’t already wormed for Tapeworm it will do both in one go)
Panacure 5 Day Guard can also be used but this is a Fenbendazole based wormer; research shows there is a lot of resistance to Fenbendazole, therefore it is probably not as effective. Check up town jungle. Remember to use a weigh tape to calculate your horses weight so you can administer the correct amount of wormer. Check out libertyinkandtoner.net.
